Medline

MEDLINE is a comprehensive bibliographic database of life sciences and biomedical literature managed by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). It contains references to journal articles, including medicine, health, biology and pharmacy. MEDLINE uses a specialised indexing system based on Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) to help standardise and categorise articles according to topics, making it easier for users to search for specific diseases, treatments, drugs, and other medical concept

MeSH

Medline can be accessed for free through PubMed, an online tool offered by the NLM. PubMed contains the same MEDLINE citations along with additional resources, including links to full-text articles when available.

PubMed (opens in new tab)

MEDLINE is also available through subscription-based services like Ovid and EBSCOhost, which offer more advanced searching tools and access to full-text articles than with PubMed. To access, users need to be affiliated with institutions that provide these services, advice should be sought from a university or institution librarian.

SRI is funded by the UK Blood Services
